Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Dang, I haven't had a good CA burrito in awhile!! After moving up to North County, it's like a treasure hunt to find the best taco shop with the best CA burrito. Today, on this rainy day and celebrating 4 more days of the semester at Cuyamaca College, I wanted a burrito. Yes, I did find it on Yelp! But I never tried Sarita's so this is solely reviewing what I ate today. These two shops are literally next door to each other, crazy! First, the workers were friendly. Second, the burrito had everything it needs for a good CA burrito-- guacamole, sour cream, cheese, crunchy fries, and yummy carne. They give you a larger than (taco shop) life hot sauce container and I needed one and a quarter for my burrito! The red sauce wasn't hot though.. This shop places high on my list, but I've had better red sauce. Unfortunately they didn't have green sauce available today. I'm glad I walked in today. I'm full now. And writing this in class ;)

So this place is literally a stone throw away from Saritas'. Very interesting to note how packed and busy both of these locations were on Saturday night when I stopped by. The worst thing about this place has to be its parking, just like Saritas, the parking lot is super small and street parking is quite limited. Luckily I found a spot that was adjacent to the gas station next door to it. I have no clue if this location is connected to the other two locations in Hillcrest and Lakeside, but it was great to finally try one. When walking into this place you'll note the very simple menu up top followed by the breakfast menu to the right side ( yelp.com/biz_photos/la-p… ). Unfortunately for me, I was in the serious mood for a breakfast burrito but the cashier informed me they did not have ingredients to make it at this time, kinda weird. But I didn't let this ruin my trip here, instead I opted for a California burrito and five rolled tacos to go. My food took quite a while to come out due to the gazillion orders of carne asada fries a head of me, I watched as the line cooks made them, these guys loaded up plates with stuff, no gravy skimpers here. After getting my order, I asked the guy for a massive amount of hot sauce, he did not disappoint as he handed me six huge containers of hot sauce, nice. Upon opening up my rolled taco order ( yelp.com/biz_photos/la-p… ), I was quite impressed at the amount of stuff they loaded on top; guac, tomatoes, lettuce, and two different types of cheese. These rolled tacos were kinda small but crispy and the meat inside was pretty damn good. My favorite being the toppings, nothing like dumping a bunch of hot sauce on top and eating it all with a fork like a salad after you're done with the tacos. Large sized burritos here, their California ( yelp.com/biz_photos/la-p… ) was filled up. Inside this thing ( yelp.com/biz_photos/la-p… ) was asada, cheese, fries, along with no fee extra sour cream & guac. While I'm not the biggest fan of sour cream, I thoroughly enjoyed my California burrito here. The meat was cut up into perfect sized chunks, seasoned and cooked wonderfully. The fries weren't too crispy, but they definitely didn't suffer from the sogginess that some places throw out. La Posta makes a damn fine California burrito. Also their guac ( yelp.com/biz_photos/la-p… ) is no joke either, nothing but freshness here. La Posta despite its incredible competition next door does San Diego taco shop food right. Their menu is very simple as they offer most of the staple items here, nothing fancy at all. Their hot sauce while being very basic, adds great flavor to your food. They have no qualms about supplying you with enough when you walk out. Only disappointment was the no breakfast burritos for dinner, oh well.

Asked some friends if Saritas was okay, was told nah, go to the place two doors down. Oh gosh so happy I went here tonight! Best California burrito I've had in forever. I also got some rolled tacos, and they were perfect. Would have been a 5 star rating but the food took forever. Will definitely be going back though.
(4)Chris P.
Still a great place to eat! Super friendly, food is always super good with great portions! I've been to a lot of taco shops around San Diego and this is most definitely in my top 5.
(5)Carlos R.
Very good food I swear it's so tasty you need to come to this Mexican Food Restaurant
(5)Denise D.
My favorite. I eat here probably once a week to once every two weeks. Their food is delicious. I usually order carne asada fries, rolled tacos or a California burrito. But I have also had the tortas and flautas, both good. Better then saritas by far.
(5)Dalia M.
It's a shame because the meat is marinaded very well but it's ruined by the gross guacamole they put in their burritos (and on everything else!!). I ordered 2 burritos to go yesterday. I specificly asked for no salsa! We live near by and when I got home, my husband and I dug in, 75% of the burrito was salsa and the nasty watery guacamole they use! I called the place and explained what happened. They remade the food without any salsa. I'm giving them 2 starts because they're very nice. They need to stop making that damn nasty guacamole though! We won't be going back because the gucacamole they use is disgusting!!! I spent $13 on 2 carne asada burritos, I think they can afford to make better guacamole, I'd say it was 90% water!!! Oh and tomatoes!! come on! Sarita's is way better!
(2)Joe M.
Whenever I go to a taco joint I pretty much always order the same thing: a California Burrito. So my review is based on that item. Of the three major Mexican stops on Campo Road La Posta is second to Saritas but way ahead of Santanas (which is thoroughly disgusting). First I applaud them on actually putting guacamole on my burrito. Putting the California name on food and not putting avocado on it in some form makes me rage so hard and it's incredibly common among Mexican restaurants. Unfortunately the meat was just not seasoned as well as Saritas. It just tasted a little bland. Fortunately they're pretty generous with the cheese, guac, and sour cream so overall not a bad tasting burrito. The staff at La Posta are really cool and friendly and they all seem to get along and fun with each other. Also, I'm pretty sure one of the guys always comes into work high as shit. This place has two major advantages over Saritas. It's not nearly as packed during peak hours and there's much more seating room. I love Saritas, but I'm not waiting twenty minutes for a burrito. Overall an acceptable place to get some decent food with little wait and a fun atmosphere.

Always seen it never tried it until i saw it on yelp. The food taste sooo fresh i love shrimp burritos and for all the sea food lovers you know that you cannot buy sea food from any taco shop...well my shrimp burrito was so good except the put lettuce but i just asked for no lettuce i also added sour cream with no extra charge. There prices are so cheap! we also got rolled tacos the meat taste fresh and the tortilla is so crispy with no oil-y shell...you can tell they cleam there fryer because of the taste. My bf got carne asada fries and he loved them. For all that we paid 20$ cant beat that. They brought our food out to us and were very nice and professional. Even though its not top notch decor the service over rules very friendly staff! Definitely coming here instead of the 3 other tacos shops we can choose from!
(5)Christine C.
We found this place a couple of years ago--just as we were moving away from RSD. Needless to say, I was heartbroken when I realized the number of mediocre Mexi meals I'd had in the surrounding La Mesa area and this little gem was just a few exits west. Fast forward to today, we stopped in and were just as impressed with the quality of this unassuming taco shop--we had a couple of breakfast burritos and each were perfection--the kind of quality and taste that you don't get easily in east county. The flavor and fresh ingredients are reminiscent of Roberto's circa 1985. The service is friendly, complimentary warm chips and marinated carrots for the table.
(5)Veronica E.
Better than Saritas hands down! I had always gone to Saritas until one day my husband and I didn't want to wait in the long line to order and decided to try next door. The food is so fresh and have a great variety in their menu. If you haven't tried it I'm telling you, you're missing out!
(5)Justin T.
My childhoods most eaten Mexican food joint. I still miss their carne asada chimichanga, carne asada fries, OMG I love it! Okay so if you didn't know, there's an ongoing debate as to the best Mexican in Spring Valley.. La Posta or Sarita's are two popular contenders and with them being literally two doors down from each other, it's all out war tearing apart families, lol.. Well my two cents is for La Posta the hot sauce is better lighter, you can use more of it but of course Sarita's has bigger portions and some prefer the taste as well. Just not me, my recommendation is La Posta, it's so so good! You'll have to try both so you can join the war, lol! Happy happy eating!!!
(4)Lisa M.
Food and service are always so great, not really a place to hang out but great to pick up and go
(4)Rufus W.
This place is very authentic amazing Mexican food. The service is awesome and the serving size is insane. The place is a bit small but it is well worth the trip every chance you get. Oh and they make the best hortchata!
(5)shawn p.
I've been coming here for almost 30 years now....or whenever they opened, and I love their food! I can't even see why Sarita's gets any love. I tried a burrito at Sarita's, Carne asada....and after one bite of chewy gross "grissel" I literally threw it out the window as I was driving down South Barcelona. Gross! Go to La Posta, they really have a better quality of food!
(5)Gus A.
This place is so good, there is literally a taco shop next door, and another 100 feet away. This one is by far the best. Not only is the quality and taste of the food better, the service is great. They smile and make you feel good. Thank you LA Posta. You guys rock.
(5)Theresa D.
Go there every time we are in SD. If I wasn't staying at my Dad's in La Mesa I would probably go to the La Posta in Hillcrest, but this one holds a lot of memories for me. It's predictably good and low-priced, like all San Diego Mexican food.
(5)Ed I.
I've been here about four times and the food has only been good once. Twice I've gotten the bean and cheese burrito and the beans were burnt and flavorless. The Chicken Flautas are actually very good here and I would recommend getting that if you insist on coming to this place. My fourth experience which was today was a rather disappointing one. I got a Pollo Asada burrito. What I got was a burrito with huge chunks of hard chicken which were hard to chew, some bagged lettuce and a hint of tomato. No guacamole or onions or anything was added. With offerings From Silvas and Santanas next door I don't know why you'd want to go here. If you do however, get the chicken Flautas.
(2)Antonio M.
Lacking the usual taco shop my carne asada fries were less to be desired, the guacamole was old, the carne was not seasoned, and the only drinks on hand were Jamaica, horchata, sprite, and diet coke. This taco shop is in need of repair.
(3)Clifford S.
Great food! Love their California Burritos and most of all the free chips and salsa!
(5)Eddy L.
This is the best taco shop in casa de oro and that's saying something considering there's five on campo road alone. The service the food the hours are everything your looking for in fast delicious Mexican food.
(5)Gabriel O.
i live about a mile and half from this place and my wife and I LOVE it. The staff member who always helps us (don't know his name but he always wear a black baseball cap) is super friendly and easy going. I've never had a bad meal here. Their rolled tacos with everything are AMAZING. My wife is very picky about her rolled tacos but she raves about them whenever we go, she says the cheese they use is outstanding! DEFINETLY a place you need to try if you never have, grab the guadalajara taco and be ready to share!
(5)Susan L.
Was great till I got food poisioning from the chicken tostada. I dont know if it was the beans or the chicken but I was really sick withing hours. That was all I ate that day. Very bad experience with the food. I guess I should of just got a burrito
(2)Liza D.
If u like shrimp burritos .. This is the place to go to. At most places the sauce they use is normally white based sauce but la Posta uses red base which I personally prefer. Generous portion sizes of shrimp wrapped in fresh tortillas. So delicious!! I could eat their shrimp burrito all day My son always orders his usual Carne Asada fries and he too claims it's the best . The staff are so friendly and the place is kept clean all the time.
(5)K. M.
Love this place. Been going since I was a kid. Fun and friendly staff. Always accommodating. Best taco shop around!
(5)Kimberley B.
I've never had anything here that I was disappointed in. The food is well priced and has very generous portions. They have water already out for your convenience but their Agua Frescas are delicious! The parking lot can be a little tricky, but it's worth any hassle to get here and enjoy the yummy food!
(5)Jack M.
I remember coming to this place when I was in high school to get their chorizo burrito. I have not been here in many years so I decided to stop by for dinner on my way home from no where in particular. when I approached, the drunken stupors flashed before my eyes, and as I entered the place; after a few internal giggles, I decided to order the heart burn burrito, "el chorizo burrito." Two facts: the prices sure have gone up and boy; the burrito is much thinner than I remember. However, on the good side of things, the burrito still packed the flavor it use to. It was very good and the chorizo was well cooked and prepared. yelp.com/biz_photos/sAGk… I am glad to see that the burrito has stood well against time. The place is also what I remember: a rectangular place with a few seats down the side of the place. Thanks La Posta for still hanging around and serving good food.
(4)Natalie H.
Great food. Great service. Just really nice people. I love these guys.
(5)James M.
Definitely one of my favorite taco shops for 4 reasons... 1) ROLLED TACOS! 2) COTIJA CHEESE (can you believe the Spring Valley taco shops that don't have it?) 3) HOT SAUCE AND FREE CHIPS! 4) Affordability. My older cousins swore by this taco shop before Saritas gained popularity. It has always been a great place to meet up for a burrito thanks to the free chips and Salsa that comes with your dine-in order. The customer service that lacks at Saritas you will definitely get here. These guys genuinely appreciate your business and are as nice as anybody I would like to give my money to. Many of the same dishes you find at Saritas you will find here for far less... though the portions may not be as large. I have no real complaints about portion size but Saritas does win that category every time. This place plays a large role in the heritage of Spring Valley taco shops; though, may not be as good as some of the other taco shops, it still has distinct flavors that separate itself from the rest.
(3)Miriam R.
Good food on the go! Not Americanized like Santana's. Good prices. And my favorite are the rolled tacos & beans and my hubby loves the mixed burrito. He said its not too heavy and wet from the meat. We love it. Its in a small strip mall and definitely better to take out, its tiny and has seating but not in the best neighborhood or the best décor inside. But the food is delicious and the guys that work there know everyone by name and are friendly.
(5)Brent S.
I feel bad even writing this bc the service was friendly, but I didn't like it here nor did my friend. I went here based on reviews and well one of the first times I have disagreed very significantly with others on. (currently it is showing 4.5 stars) Maybe they do their carne asada correctly and everyone else wrong, but if so I like the wrong way better. He didn't finish his meal nor did I mine and we were both very hungry so that shouldn't have happened. It's not that the food was bad, it just wasn't good enough to come back again.
(2)Perla N.
Always get the Horchata, it's the best in East County. So is the service, the guys here are great. 4 stars only for the lack of parking spaces!
(4)Jake K.
I have been going to this place since I was a kid hands down the best taco shop I have ever been to. Everything is good salsa is the best.
(5)Jacob B.
I went there for the first time and it was way better than what I anticipated. The prices were reasonable and the staff was friendly . The place was clean and the food and hot sauces were GREAT ! I ordered the chili verde and it was extremely good . I Would recommend this place to any one looking for true authentic Mexican food.
(5)Joseph S.
Some of the best burritos I've had in East County. I personally find Sarritas overrated, and La Posta usually had cheaper, higher quality alternatives as well. The carne asada is well-seasoned and juicy, which makes for a great burrito. Staff is also very friendly and customer service is great. Would definitely recommend.
(5)Brandy S.
Being next to saritas, I still would come to this place over saritas any day. My favorite item from this place is the pollo asada burrito always fresh and filling and the service is always friendly and fast!
(4)Joshua D.
Best taco shop in east county!
(5)Heather J.
This location is not at all like the Lakeside location. The cashier was very nice, but the food was nearly inedible. My sister ordered fajitas and the vegetables might as well been raw. My chicken enchiladas had a odd sauce that was less than appetizing. The rest of the food was medioche. I'd rather drive to the other location which has better food.
(2)Dennis C.
Category: Fast Food Mexi Location: East County San Diego Powerful Factor: The best. In high school (Go Monarchs!) this place was the best! Since the early 90's not much has changed in downtown Casa de Oro and that is a good thing. I now live north of Santa Barbra which is Fast food Mexi hell. Carne Asada burritos are stuffed with rice and beans and cost upwards of 8 bucks. I found La Posta's prices comparable to the San Diego market and their flavor/taste exceed that of Santanas, Humbertos, Robertos, Alabertos, an all of the other 'BERTOS. Their guacamole does not contain mayonnaise (thank god) and the staff is just a friendly as I remember. These guys are the best in show.
(5)Eric F.
I grew up on this stuff. They get it right every time and the service is always perfect. I've been going here since I was a little kid, I am now in my early 30's, and I can honestly say I've never had a bad experience here. They can do everything right, but one thing that I find unique here is the way they do their rolled tacos. The cheese is in small crumbles (Cotija I presume?), they also use some sort of seasoning on them, and you can pick up each rolled taco without the toppings falling everywhere. This is the food I miss most when I am outside of California. They even have a nice seating area and sufficient parking. Another huge plus is they give you chips and salsa while you wait if you're dining in and free spicy carrots.
(5)Patrick F.
This is my go to Mexican joint. They have all the usual items on the menu you expect from a taco shop. I like the California burritos, carne asada fries, and rolled tacos. The staff is friendly and the service is always good.
(5)Shanel S.
All I have to say is ROLLED TACOS and their chips with EXTRA SALSA! I literally can drink their salsa, that's how good it is. Sometimes I go to Saritas for a burrito and then come here for their chips and salsa and maybe even rolled tacos. It's perfect that they're next to each other.
(5)Anthony M.
Seems like if you're from the area you're either for La Posta or Sarita's... I myself have gone back and forth but ultimately I give the edge to La Posta... the food and hot sauce just have more flavor (try the California w/ adobada!) and the guys working there are always super nice, the complete opposite of the bitchy chicks over at Sarita's. Gotta love the Neo Geo too.
(4)Joshua H.
If I don't eat here every week, withdrawal sets in. Eating here since high school days. Always a good favorite. Used to have incredible fish tacos. Now just okay. Carne Asada is well seasoned. Steak ranchero is a once a month need. But my new favorite is their california carne asada burrito. This sucker will make you ache for another bite. The staff is super friendly. Just enter with a wave and always compliment the chef. They love feeding you. I have an interesting past here. My nickname is "amigo de poo poo guy." Just ask if you dare...
(4)Susan D.
Best California burrito in town!
(5)Phonesavanh R.
Finally a place where the hot sauce container is not the size of a quarter! It's quite calm here late at night compared to Sarita's ; which is next door. My boyfriend and I tried it for the first time and it was great. He ordered the taco salad bowl and it was huge and quite delicious. This is the first place EVER where a taco shop's sauce is big! I had the carne asada burrito and it was okay. I prefer Sarita's burrito but I would come here again to try other stuff! Be careful using your debit card. They charge like $0.50 but they don't tell you that you get charged for using it.
(4)Peter P.
Cut throat location next to saritas. This place has friendly and fast service. They have a clean and nice seating area. Their carne asada is good and breakfast burritos are a good size with good flavor. Give this place a try.
(4)Blair S.
I had the floutas plate. Tasted great along with the beans and rice. Mild red salsa was perfect. Really people nice too!
(5)Simeko C.
I didn't like this place... I don't get the hype??? They put lettuce in their burritos. It was salty and the hot sauce was not hot only watery. I won't make this mistake twice.... I have had better and la posta was disappointing.
(2)Chingon S.
tacos y chili rellanos
(5)Craig J.
For a hole in the wall taco shop this place is great with prices and service to match.
(5)Tomas D.
Always friendly here. The food is great! I particularly favor the seafood dishes. The ceviche tostadas are my favorite. It always taste so fresh. Some of my other favorites are the Green Chili Pork and the Pollo Asado Quesadilla. Just amazing. The place has plenty of seating and air conditioned. Parking is shared with the other businesses so it can be limited at times. All in all, it is a great place for an inexpensive lunch or dinner.
(4)Jason W.
This place has been around since the beginning of time. It was a regular high school hang out for us Monarchs that went to Monte Vista H.S. When I recently visited my old hang out I noticed it wasn't as good as it used to be. It's not bad but just not the same. Still has good but not excellent food.
(3)Steve P.
I've pretty much come to the conclusion that the sheer number of specials, carne asada burritos and nachos I was fed from La Posta as a fledging and overweight 8 year old have shortened my life span by at least 3 or 4 decades, and unwittingly contributed to the excessive methane floating around our local atmosphere throughout the 90's. La Posta has not changed much at all since I was a kid. It's one of the few institutions left on Campo Road that can take me back to childhood and still give off the kind of fuzzy feeling my colon is willing to accept punishment for. Though I can't polish off a carne asada burrito like I used to, the satisfaction is still the same as it was back then. Sarita's still ain't got nothing on this place.
(5)Cherie C.
This is my favorite local taco shop(and there is a glut of taco shops around here) because the food is excellent they've never messed up my orders.
(5)Bill S.
Boys love the Carne Asada Fries. We love rolled tacos with guacamole. Truly a hole in the wall place, but the food and the service is fantastic. Don't let the outside of the place fool you. I went to school in San Diego and we have relatives that live close by, and you cannot beat the flavor, and price of their rolled tacos with guacamole and cheese on top I can't wait until our next trip to San Diego! Rolled Tacos with guacamole here we come!
(5)Matt F.
Can't believe I forgot about La Posta. This is a tough one to grade because the food isn't bad , but also doesn't scream at my taste buds either. The cooks ALWAYS hook up the food and don't skimp. The service is always awesome. Notice - They put lettuce in the carne asada burritos - A BIG NO NO for me. Solid 4 star. Will I come back ? I shouldve checked in to this place at least 20 times this month :)
(4)D L.
Been going here for years. High quality and the guys are always working in overdrive. Great guacamole.
(4)Errick O.
This Place is awesome! I always order the Carne Asada Fries with pico de gallo. The cooks are very generous with the amount of carne asada that is served on the warm crispy bed of fries. Order with a pepsi and Im good for the rest of the week. Pollo Asado chips are equally as awesome very flavorful with a nice crunch. My gf orders the cevice that comes with a lot of shrimp, enough for two tostadas de ceviche. The salsa has a great flavor to it as well. This place always hit my spot. Awesome food. And they have a local in Lakeside as well.
(5)Brad F.
Carne Asada Quesadilla, five rolled tacos hold the guac, and extra salsa. That's been my phone order going on 8 years now, give or take an order of chips or a breakfast burrito sprinkled in. It's truly good, it's fast, and it's worth it. They're heavy on the grease, heavy on the ingredients, and they know they're giving you magic in a styrofoam cup when they hand you the salsa. No need eating there though, I've been in that bathroom. You always have an interesting mix of folks in there too, never a dull moment when you grab La Posta.
(4)Brian P.
This is it. Down the street from Monte Vista. The kick it spot and the go to spot. Everything (no fer real, like everything) is good here. It's cheaper than Saritas and the Staff are always nice and friendly. They always hook me up with extra cheese or extra sauce or tortillas. You cannot go wrong here.
(5)Jess M.
If you are in need of a California burrito go to La Posta i am an avid Mexican food eater and i won't just eat any old Mexican food and La posta has the best there is to offer.
(5)Chardá F.
The shredded beef tacos are the best! I also enjoy: - shrimp burrito (I ask for it without lettuce and add cheese and sour cream). - rolled tacos (classic of course they are pretty good)
(4)Amy S.
In the midst of my college placement tests, my stomach was disturbing everyone around me as it continually growled at me for some food that I had been denying it for quite a few hours. Luckily, La Posta de Acapulco came through; hole in the wall with nauseating paint colors on the walls, but you know what? That gives character, and I like that. Some unique features like that set this place apart from all the other taco shops scattered along the streets of San Diego. Now, tonight was my first California Burrito that I ever had... I know, I am a sad excuse for a person, but it is safe to say that I think that is my new burrito of choice and also the best burrito I have had in eons from any taco shop. I was very impressed with the prices, and most definitely impressed by the size of and the speed of the creation of the burrito. When my burrito arrived in front of me, it was the length of my shin bone and the width of my foot. And somehow, I ate just about all of it. This taco shop is on point with the correct ratios of each element within the burritos, the tortillas were delicious, and the burrito did not fall apart all over the tray as do most. Absolutely amazing. The employees were friendly and helpful, always making your eating experience better. The only scary thing about this place was getting in the car and having a man rapidly approach my friend's car and peer into the windows. So the riff-raft this place attracts knocks it down to 4.5 stars, but it's all good. They need great burritos too, right? This place is amazing!!! Definitely am willing to make the extra trip out to get another burrito from here in the future. Highly recommended that you try this place!!!
(5)Sam B.
Great Mexican food always my first choice when it comes to taco shops.I,m 33 and cant remember a life with out la posta. amazing home made horchata and jamaica not that powder crap . Where ever you are in san diego and if you are having a la posta craving just ask your self are you a Mexican or a Mexican't and get you butt over there !! Nuff Said...
(5)Kelly N.
Dirty bathrooms are what real Mexican food is all about. I grew up on La Posta. While living through a remodel on Mt. Helix during my single digit years, this place was a family staple. Anyone who goes next door to Sarita's is a trader!!! Posta was there first!!!! Viva sucio burritos mexicano!

This resturant has been around sense I was a little kid.... that tells you how good this resturant is. Food great. They Don't use cheap stuff. There staff is always great and knows you by name. If your looking for the best mexican food in San diego this is your place. I've never been disappointed. They no longer have a bathroom. It's hard to have a restoom in this area. Spring valley has a lot of issue. But food awesome.

I've been eating here for 20 years and the food has always been great and a good value. I stop by for lunch everytime I'm in the neighborhood. They might have the best hot sauce on earth. Can't miss here.

Thanks to this place I am semi seriously considering moving to the san diego area. The california burrito was wonderous especially as part of the number 7 combo. So what if I nearly feel asleep at work this afternoon. The portions are generous and always includes free chips and salsa. My friends and I highly recommend this place. Better than anything back east.

The other place is where I go. But because I let my boyfriend choose he picked La Posta to at least give them a try. I told him that Sarita's was better...and did he listen? nooooo.... its not that its horrible it just ok. And the food does not seem as fresh or its over cooked. Or maybe I am just bias chica and choose not like this place. Well, try it for yourself and see.

I am a long time customer of La Posta. They must have a new cook as the food I picked up Saturday evening was not great. The meat in the chicken taco was cooked to a splintery mess and the rice was hard. I am finding that their weekday evening cooks are better than the cooks on the weekend. If you are ordering take out, you might want to check quality before you leave.

Your salsa is so good we could survive off of it. Let me buy some we always order salsa for the yummy chips and we need a lot . I mean by the time I get home with my food I always fight with my kids over it. I offer , and I will pay more for more salsa.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. I have been going here since high school. Now I live about 30 minutes away and still drive to Spring Valley to get Mexican food here. The carne asada is outstanding. Never had a bad meal here. Great prices too!

Fast service. Better than your average mexican taco shop food. The cooks and cashiers are nice. You can just call and order what you want, give your first name, and they tell you it's ready in 10 minutes.

Yummmmmmmmm! I discovered this place after moving into the Casa de Oro area in 1995 and have been going ever since. GREAT take-out Mexican. I thought it was interesting (and informative) when a lady that works at the UPS Store, about 2 miles away was standing in line waiting for take-out; she works right next door to a take-out Mexican restaurant that has a better atmosphere, and not bad food, but LPDA has superior food! Enjoy!

it's been at least five years since i've eaten here.. when i was at SDSU someone i knew took me here on occasion. i hope to come back to this place because it's where i got hooked on taco salad.. sounds boring, but it's what i constantly ordered. those flavors.. mmMmm. so simple, but so worth it. after i go back and try more stuff, i'll have a better idea if i should change my rating.

Saritas is my personal favorite because of their soup. BUT La Posta, has GREAT burritos, and tacos. I don't think I ever used the bathrooms...its kind of a rule of fast food. Its next door to a pawn shop for goodness sake its not supposed to be a classy joint!

The food is decent, I had eaten at this location a couple of times. The following review is for my last visit. I ordered 12 rolls tacos for me and my g/f but as we were waiting for order to be ready, I make the mistake of going to the bathroom. The bathroom was DISGUSTING! I mean it made a gas station bathroom look spotless. I close the door and ask if I could have someone clean it up because it was gross, the cashier called a guy from the back, he was wearing an apron it looked like he was preparing food...... All I thought was hopefully the guy takes a peak and gets someone who obviously isnt preparing food to clean it. Just my luck, he starts to clean the bathroom, gives it a quick cleaning and returns to the back, where he was originally, about 2 min. later my roll tacos are ready. I am not sure if prepared them or not, but I didn't risk it and walked next door to my suprise I found Sarita's it a much better choice. Never again will I eat at La Posta.

Great food, great service and consistent goodness! These guys are always friend and fast! The food is made right in front of you and they never have any problems with substitutions to the menu. My wife is gluten free so when I ask them to use corn tortillas and make a breakfast burrito they did and made delicious breakfast tacos!

Came here after being unsatisfied by Saritas. Had surf and turf burrito. Cheaper than Saritas, taste and quality is roughly the same. The surf part of the burrito was not impressive, shrimp while not rotten wasn't the freshest either. Fresh shrimp has that nice sweet crunchy texture. Well, not here, not this time. Foot traffic is good, so fresh turnover. Really can't think of a compelling reason to come back to this taco shop, except to say, if in the neihborhood and choosing between Saritas and this, I'd give this place a very slight edge. Still unsatisfied. Still searching for good Mexican food in the east county.... noticeably better in downtown and the barrio.
